I’ve been fishing for two seasons with C and J Rods’ custom finesse noodle. It has produced a lot of really nice panfish, including my personal best bluegill.

I like a rod that is fairly sensitive for the first 4-6 inches so I can feel even the slightest bite. At the same time, I needed it to stiffen fairly soon after. My hook sets are a hard and fast wrist snap, and with this combination, I find I miss fewer hook sets.

I'm pretty picky about my poles, but when working with Chris and Joe, they helped me find exactly what I needed. At a rough estimate, I’ve caught 500 fish with my C and J custom finesse noodle— from walleye and pike to bluegill, crappie, and perch!

I purchased a 28” and 32” Hole Hog series custom rods from C&J at the Wisconsin Ice Fishing Expo. Wow! What a great addition to my ice fishing experience!

The 28” has been my go-to rod for panfish. I love to fish clear lakes, and that requires super light tackle. The Hole Hog has amazing sensitivity! I’m seeing every bite! Often, panfish in deep water will give a negative bite, and the noodle tip lets me see even the lightest or negative bite! Also, I have hooked into several bass while searching for panfish, and the Hole Hog has plenty of backbone to handle them. If the line can take it, the rod definitely can!

The 32” has been putting in work for river walleyes and Green Bay Whitefish. The versatility of these rods is amazing! I have fished up to a 1/4 oz jig. Amazingly, while the noodle tip is fully loaded, I still see a light whitefish bite in deep water. The combination of power to handle a 3-4 lb whitie and sensitivity to see the delicate bite has been a blast to use in one of my favorite fisheries! Needless to say, I’m sold and never going back to my old store-bought combos! I can’t believe the fun this has added to my ice fishing season!
